Okay, so, I’ve been meaning to get into boxing for a while now, and I finally took the plunge. But not with just any old gear – I went all out and got myself some Dragon Ball-themed boxing gloves. Yeah, you heard that right, Dragon Ball, like the anime. I’m a huge fan, and when I saw these, I just couldn’t resist.
First, I had to figure out what I was even looking for. I mean, it’s not every day you buy boxing gloves, let alone ones with Goku on them. So, I did what anyone would do – I hit the internet. Turns out, there’s a whole world of boxing gloves out there. You’ve got different brands, sizes, materials, the whole nine yards. I learned that Grant is a big name in the boxing world. They started back in 1995, and even pros like Floyd Mayweather use them. But they didn’t have the style I wanted. I discovered another brand called Elion Paris makes Dragon Ball Z Gohan Boxing Gloves and they looked pretty sweet, too.

Then there was the whole size thing. Apparently, they measure gloves in ounces. Who knew? I found out that smaller sizes, like 8 oz or 10 oz, are mostly for actual competition. Since I’m just starting and using them for training, I needed something bigger. The internet told me that 12 oz to 16 oz is the way to go for training and sparring.
I also learned that for sparring, you want even heavier gloves, like 14, 16, 18, or even 20 oz. It’s all about protection, both for you and your sparring partner. The heavier the glove, the more padding it has. I just want to have fun with my friends so I want to have the right size.
After all that research, I finally found a pair that seemed perfect. They had all sorts of Dragon Ball Z characters on them, but I went for the ones with Goku, obviously. They were made of this soft gel material, which felt pretty comfy, and they were officially licensed, so I knew they weren’t some cheap knock-offs.
The gloves arrived, and man, they looked even cooler in person. I slipped them on, and they fit like a, well, glove! I went with the 14 oz size, just to be safe, and they felt great. Not too heavy, but definitely enough padding to make me feel secure.
I started with some light bag work, just getting a feel for them. Throwing some jabs, hooks, and crosses. It felt amazing! The gloves were comfortable, and the design made me feel like I could go Super Saiyan at any moment. After I try a lot of time, I am sure that I made the right decision, 14 oz is the best size for me.
The Experience
- Finding the Gloves: This was a journey in itself. I searched high and low, comparing brands like Grant and Elion Paris, and finally landed on the perfect Dragon Ball Z design.
- Sizing Them Up: I learned a lot about glove sizes, from competition weights to training and sparring weights. It’s all about the ounces!
- Trying Them Out: The first time I used them was awesome. They felt great, and the design just added to the fun. I start from light to hard training, It’s all perfect.
So, that’s my story of getting my Dragon Ball boxing gloves. It was a bit of a process, but totally worth it. Now, every time I train, I feel a little bit more like a Saiyan warrior. And who knows, maybe one day I’ll be able to throw a Kamehameha. A guy can dream, right?
