Okay, so, I’ve been messing around with this idea of “one-off attires” in wrestling, like, those special outfits wrestlers sometimes wear for just one big match or something, right? It all started when I watched a match where Candice LeRae showed up in this awesome getup that was a total shout-out to one of her heroes.
I got curious and started digging around. Turns out, this is a whole thing!

- First, I made a list of all the wrestlers I could think of who’ve done the one-off attire thing.
- Then I started hunting down pictures and videos of those special outfits. Some were easier to find than others, man.
- I even tried sketching out some of the outfits myself, just to get a better feel for the details. That was… interesting. My drawings are terrible.
I dove into online forums and read through tons of comments from other fans. People get super passionate about this stuff! Some folks love the tribute outfits, like when a wrestler dresses up like someone from the past. Others are more into the totally new, unexpected looks that just pop up out of nowhere. Like, remember when The Undertaker showed up in that Deadman costume? Still gives me the chills.
Then there’s Velveteen Dream. That guy’s a whole fashion show on his own. Everything he wears is like a piece of art. It’s wild. I don’t understand how he pulls it off.
Getting those outfits on is definitely an ordeal. First, I measured myself and made the patterns. Then I picked some fabrics from Joann’s that looked and felt right. After that, I spent a couple of nights cutting and sewing. Finally, I tried them on and made some adjustments.
But you know what? It gets people talking. It gets them excited. It’s like a little extra something that makes a match feel even more special. I really think it is cool.
After doing all this, I totally get why wrestlers do it. It’s a way to show their personality, pay respect to the past, and just have some fun with it. Plus, it makes for some killer photos. Oh, and let me tell you, finding the right materials for some of these outfits was a real adventure. I ended up in some pretty strange shops, let me tell you! The things we do for wrestling, huh?
What I Learned
It’s way more work than it looks! But it’s also a lot of fun. And it’s a cool way to connect with wrestling history. Maybe I’ll try to make my own one-off attire sometime. Who knows?
