Well, let me tell you, this Wisconsin football team, they got a whole bunch of folks playing for ’em. They got what they call a “depth chart”, which is just a fancy way of saying who’s gonna play first and who’s gonna sit on the bench for a bit. It’s like when we pick who’s gonna milk the cow first, you know? Wisconsin depth chart, that’s what they keep yapping about.
Who’s Who on the Field
So, they got this list, see. Top of the list, those are the big shots, the ones who get to play right away. Then you got the other fellas, waiting their turn. Like how we wait for the corn to grow, gotta be patient. They say this Wisconsin depth chart thing is important, helps ’em figure out who plays where and when. I reckon it is a little important, not as much as knowing your cows from your horses, but important.

They got all these positions, you wouldn’t believe. WR-X, WR-Z, WR-SL, LT. Sounds like a bunch of gibberish to me. But I guess it makes sense to them football folks. They got this Bryson Green fella, and a Vinny Anthony, and a Will Pauling. Nelson too, sounds like he is important with the number 79.
- Bryson Green
- Vinny Anthony
- Will Pauling
- Nelson – 79, must be real good
Games and Such
These boys, they play a lot of games. Sometimes they win, sometimes they lose. They used to go to something called a “bowl” for a long time, 22 years they say, but not this time. Like when we have a bad harvest, it happens. This year, they won 5 and lost 7, ain’t that something? Lost the last 5 in a row, bless their hearts. This Wisconsin Badgers Football, it’s a tough game.
They got a new head honcho, a coach they call him, name of Luke Fickell. He’s in charge of the whole shebang now. Hope he knows what he’s doing, leading all them young’uns. Reminds me of when I gotta keep an eye on all my grandkids, it’s hard work, let me tell you.
Back in the Day
They say, a long time ago, back in ’52, these Badgers were the best in the whole land. Number one, they called ’em. Even went to a fancy place called the Rose Bowl. Must’ve been a sight to see. Like when we go to the county fair, but probably bigger. This Wisconsin depth chart, it shows who was playing then too, I reckon, though those fellas are probably long gone now.
The Important List
This depth chart, it changes all the time, they say. Someone gets hurt, or someone plays real good, and they move ’em up and down the list. Like musical chairs, but with football players. They keep it updated, so everyone knows who’s who. This week, next week, always changing. Just like the weather, you never know what you’re gonna get.
They got a game coming up, against some team called Minnesota. Big game, I guess. They update the Wisconsin depth chart before every game, like how I make my grocery list before I go to town. Gotta be prepared, you know. This guy Jon Mcnamara, he’s on the list somewhere for Wisconsin depth chart, hope he does well.
Getting Ready
They say they’re getting ready for the season opener, on August 30th. That’s a ways away. Lots of time to practice and get that depth chart just right. This Van Dyke fella, they say he’s the starter now. Good for him. Hope he can handle the pressure. It’s like when the new bull comes to the farm, everyone’s watching to see what he can do.

All in All
So, this Wisconsin depth chart, it’s a big deal to these football folks. Lots of names, lots of positions, lots of changes. It’s all a bit much for me, I’d rather stick to my garden and my chickens. But I guess it’s important to them, and that’s all that matters. They need to know who’s playing, and who’s waiting, and who’s gonna help ’em win those games. It’s a whole world out there, different from ours, but interesting nonetheless. I still think knowing your crops is more important, but hey, to each their own, right?
They work hard, these boys. I will say, those players on the Wisconsin depth chart work hard. I hope they win. They are good boys. I just hope they eat well and take their vitamins. Playing football is hard. I just hope they’re happy, that’s all that matters.
