Well now, if we’re talkin’ about the fattest players in the NBA, ya gotta know there’s some big ol’ boys who played the game. I ain’t talkin’ ’bout just tall fellas, no, I’m talkin’ ’bout some real heavyweights who made their mark in the league. Some of ’em were big ’cause they could move, others, well… they were just big. So, let’s sit down and talk about the fattest player ever to step foot on that basketball court.

NBAs Fattest Players: From Oliver Miller to Jusuf Nurkić and Beyond

Oliver Miller – The Big O

Now, if ya wanna know who the fattest player in NBA history is, it’s gotta be Oliver Miller. This fella was a center, standin’ at 6 foot 9 inches tall, and he tipped the scales at a whopping 375 pounds (that’s over 170 kilograms for ya). Oliver was known as “The Big O” and not just ‘cause of his size, but ’cause he had a big presence on that court. He played for nine seasons in the NBA with six different teams, including the Phoenix Suns and the Toronto Raptors.

When he started his career, he wasn’t quite as big, but over time, he packed on the pounds, and by the end of his career, he was reachin’ close to 380 pounds. That’s a lot of weight to carry around on a basketball court, but somehow he made it work. He wasn’t the fastest player, but he sure knew how to use his size to his advantage.

Other Big Names

Now, if we’re lookin’ at some other heavyweights in the NBA, there are a few names that pop up. Some folks might remember Shaquille O’Neal, or Shaq as folks call him. That big guy was known for bein’ strong and mighty, but he also weighed in pretty heavy at around 325 pounds. Shaq was a dominant force in the paint, but let me tell ya, he wasn’t exactly runnin’ up and down the court like a gazelle.

Then there’s Tacko Fall, a fella who stood at 7 foot 6 inches tall! Now, that’s taller than most houses I’ve seen. Tacko Fall weighed in at about 311 pounds (141 kilograms), and let me tell ya, that boy was a force to be reckoned with. He didn’t get much playin’ time in the NBA, but he sure turned heads whenever he stepped onto the court.

Jusuf Nurkić – The Bosnian Beast

Don’t forget about Jusuf Nurkić now. He’s the heaviest active player in the NBA, weighin’ in at around 290 pounds (about 132 kilograms). This Bosnian fella’s a center who got picked by the Chicago Bulls back in 2014, though they traded him right away to Denver. He made the NBA All-Rookie Second Team in 2015, and while he ain’t quite as heavy as the others, he’s still a big ol’ boy.

How Their Weight Affects Their Careers

Now, it ain’t all fun and games bein’ a big fella in the NBA. Weight can play a big part in a player’s career, and sometimes, it can be a problem. Players who carry extra pounds have a harder time movin’ around the court, and that can make ’em slow down, especially when it comes to runnin’ and jumpin’. But I’ll tell ya, some of these big guys learned how to use their weight to push folks around in the paint, and that gave ’em an edge.

But, sometimes, the weight just ain’t good for the body. Look at some of these big guys who had to retire early ’cause of injuries. The heavier they are, the more strain it puts on their knees, hips, and back. That’s why a lot of these big fellas don’t last as long as the slimmer guys. Still, they sure do make an impact while they’re out there.

Big Boys, Big Impact

Even though these big players might not always run the fastest or jump the highest, they sure do leave their mark. Oliver Miller, Shaq, Tacko Fall, and others prove that size ain’t always about bein’ the quickest. Sometimes, it’s about just being big and strong, and in the NBA, that can be a real advantage. They may not have had the longest careers, but boy, when they were on that court, you couldn’t miss ’em.

Conclusion

So, if you ever wonderin’ who the fattest player in NBA history is, it’s Oliver Miller. Ain’t nobody weighed more than him. But don’t forget the other big names, too. They may not have been the fastest or the most graceful, but they sure made their mark, and that’s what counts in the end.
